지속가능한 빛 축제를 주제로 싱가포르 도시재개발청(URA)이 주최하고 마리나 베이에서 개최되는 'i Light Singapore'출품작. 환경적인 문제를 담은 판타지 스토리 속 우주해파리를 빛으로 표현한다. 재활용한 투명 플라스틱 돔과 에어 캡을 작품의 재료로 사용하여 일회성으로 소비되는 물질들을 새로운 시각으로 바라본다.

  Under the theme of the Sustainable Light Festival, this work is an entry for the i Light Singapore hosted by the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority(URA) and held in Marina Bay. It expresses the space jellyfish in a fantasy story with environmental problems with light. Using recycled transparent plastic domes and air caps as materials for the work, we look at materials that are consumed once in a new way.

  Story

  '우주바다'에 별을 먹고 사는 '우주해파리'가 있었다. 평소처럼 평화롭게 헤엄치던 우주해파리는 어느 날 처음 보는 알 수 없는 색으로 반짝이는 별을 발견한다. 이 새로운 별은 무슨 맛일까 궁금했던 해파리는 그 별을 한 입 먹어 보았다. 어째서인지 그 별은 먹어도 먹어도 배는 부르지 않고 몸만 무거워졌지만 해파리는 멈출 수가 없었다. 별을 먹을 때마다 몸이 반짝이는 것이 마음에 들었기 때문이다. 하지만 사실 그 별들은 더 이상 지구에 둘 곳이 없어 인간들이 우주로 쏘아 올린 '쓰레기'였다. 결국 그 별을 따라 지구 가까이 가버린 해파리는 몸이 너무 무거워져 지구로 추락해 버리고 말았다. 우주해파리는 다시 우주바다를 헤엄칠 수 있을까?

  Fallen follows the story of an ethereal jellyfish that roamed the universe in search of stars to consume. One day, it stumbled upon a star that was twinkling in unusual colours. This curious wanderer unsuspectedly took many huge bites of the star to feed its insatiable hunger and its bloated body grew so heavy that it eventually crashed onto Earth. Little did it know, the “star” was actually an accumulation of trash jettisoned into orbit by humans who ran out of disposal space for garbage. Will the jellyfish be able to survive this unfortunate episode and swim in space again?
